SMTP Settings

Your SMTP server is the server through which you send email. Once an SMTP server accepts your email it takes on the task and responsibility of delivering it to its final destination. Just like a conventional mailbox you can use any SMTP server to send your email provided it is accepted for delivery.

It is common practice to use the SMTP servers provided by your ISP. One reason for this is so ISP's can help in the fight against SPAM by attempting to control all email moving through their network. They do this by blocking the standard SMTP port of 25. The easiest setup for SMTP can be had by using your ISP's server and using your email programs default settings. You can contact your ISP to obtain their SMTP server name.

If you prefer to use Xclusive Tech Jamaica's server then you must adjust your SMTP server settings as follows:

  1. Your server will be mail.yourdomain.com.
  2. Your port MUST be changed from 25 to 26.
  3. You MUST enable "SMTP authentication" and use the same username and password as your POP server. DO NOT enable secure authentication or connection options.

After having performed these steps our server will accept your outgoing emails.
